We have learned with great sorrow the passing away of Ahmed Kathrada, who was one of the founding fathers of South African democracy and anti-Apartheid struggle.

As a prominent Muslim politician, Kathrada will always be remembered with his staunch support for freedoms, democracy, equality and human rights.
